Preparation of walls for wallpapering is a very important stage of finishing work (surface preparation is no less important when wallpapering on the ceiling). The service life of the wallpaper depends on the quality of the aligned walls in the room and how well the wallpaper itself is connected to the surface of the walls. The preparation of the surface of the walls depends not only on the material of which they are composed, but also on their condition.
Most often, the processing of walls for wallpapering is to remove the old coating and level some sections of the walls. By the way, this rule also applies to the preparation of walls for gluing ceramic tiles from Italy. In addition, the surface is often treated with various forting or protective compounds – antiseptics, primers. Before proceeding to direct application of plaster or putty, the walls are primarily primed for. This must be done to create a more durable surface layer. Deep penetration primer impregnate the surface of the walls 3-5 mm. The incoming composition of such primer components reliably connect the particles of the material, providing the best adhesion with subsequent applied compositions.
The preparation of the walls will depend on which wallpaper is supposed to stick. Before gluing, for example, wallpapers for painting, the wall surface must be carefully leveled. Requirements for the preparation of walls for pasting with relief wallpaper are less stringent, it is possible to allow minor deviations.
Preparing a room for liquid wallpaper is the easiest way to make. When applying a decorative mixture, it will fill in irregularities up to several millimeters. In this case, it is possible to do without putty, it is enough to plaster the largest places with damage. When gluing wallpaper on ready-made plasterboard bases, the preparation consists only in priming. If you plan to glue heavy wallpaper, it is recommended to cover any surface with at least two layers of primer.
